NO CASINO IN MANDOVI BY 31ST MARCH ?
The deadline for Off shore casino vessels in Mandovi river gets over on 31st march 2017. As per cabinet decision casino vessels have to relocate or moved out from Mandovi river before 31st March 2017. Goa government has not finalized locations to relocate off shore casinos. On the other side Golden globe hotel private limited has advertised posts for new off shore casino before 31st March 2017.
On 14th August 2016, Cabinet had extended the deadline for relocation of offshore casinos for a period of one year. The extended deadline gets over on 31st march. In 2012 Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar had assured to remove or relocate casino vessels from Mandovi river within four years.
Sources from Secretariat informed that government has not finanlised any proper locations to relocate the casinos from Mandovi river. Earlier government had proposed four sites which were opposed by locals and casino operators.
Sources from casino industry informed that it is not possible for the government to relocate casinos within 10 to 12 days. The proposed sites by government has not been ease for doing business, nor costumers are comfortable in deep sea. Similarly government has failed to create proper infrastructure like Jetties at various identified locations. However, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has now assured a permanent solution for the issue.
