MAUNDY THURSDAY: COMMEMORATING THE LAST SUPPER

Maundy Thursday, preceding Good Friday, commemorates the Last Supper and the washing of the disciples' feet by Jesus. It signifies the beginning of the end of the Lenten season and is observed with evening masses in churches across Goa. The service typically includes the blessing of holy oil and the symbolic act of feet washing by priests. Hot cross buns, distributed after the service, symbolize the crucifixion and spices used in embalming Jesus, along with commemorating the last supper. The day marks the start of the Holy Triduum, concluding with the Easter Vigil on Saturday.
