A Margao woman was allegedly cheated of Rs 6.51 lakh after unknown persons induced her to download an APK malware file, gaining fraudulent access to her phone. She later received multiple OTP messages linked to her bank account, which she ignored, before noticing five unauthorised transactions through net banking and UPI.  •  A Sanguem woman was allegedly cheated of Rs 1.47 lakh after an unknown caller impersonated an SBI credit card official and promised to increase her card limit from Rs 2.14 lakh to Rs 3.14 lakh. Believing the caller to be genuine, she shared an OTP, following which Rs 1.47 lakh was allegedly debited from her account.  •  Assolna resident allegedly cheated of around Rs 1.49 lakh after unknown persons contacted him on WhatsApp, impersonating GCZMA officials.Taking advantage of the complainant’s business-related limitations, the accused allegedly induced him to make multiple online transactions to their accounts.  •  A Sarzora woman was allegedly cheated of Rs 1.06 lakh after unknown persons contacted her claiming to be representatives of ONGC and promised her a job. The complainant had responded to a newspaper job advertisement and shared her email ID and WhatsApp number. She was later allegedly induced to make multiple online payments.  •  Anjuna Police have registered an offence against 42-year-old Ugandan national Nyombi Aaliyah for allegedly staying illegally in Goa without a valid passport or travel documents.  •  Two West Bengal natives, Rizwan (21) and Abu Tahim Mulla (23), arrested by Colvale Police in alleged connection with a theft at an under-construction house in Sai Colony, Thivim; Brass fittings, copper wires, electrical wires, a grinder and other items worth Rs 52,600 have been recovered  •  The High Court has issued notices to the Goa Government, the Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA), and the Village Panchayat of Calangute in a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) concerning the destruction of large tracts of beach vegetation and the cutting of trees on government land under the custody of the Tourism Department at Tavai Waddo, Calangute. The matter will be heard by the High Court on 16 September.  •  The body of 40-year-old fisherman Umesh Dabolkar, a resident of Nerul, has been recovered at Sinquerim Beach after he reportedly fell from a fishing boat and drowned. Rescue teams had launched a search operation to trace him.  •  A stray dog was run over and killed by a car in Cuncolim; CCTV footage shows the dog sitting visibly on the road as the vehicle approaches and runs over it.  •  Power Minister Sudin Dhavalikar said the MGP remains part of the alliance and will respect its principles, but questioned whether Govind Gaude has the authority to comment on alliance matters. Dhavalikar said such issues should be discussed through the BJP’s Core Committee and Executive Committee, which he described as the appropriate forums for alliance decisions.
