North Goa Additional Sessions Court has granted anticipatory bail to Vamnesh Ganexam Kuttikar in the attempted murder case registered by the Panaji police following the brutal assault of a 21 year old youth from Taleigao by a group in May this year  •  Prisoner Rovina Lobo, arrested by Colvale Police in connection with an alleged drug smuggling case at Colvale Jail, was produced before the Mapusa JMFC Court; The court remanded her to 14 days of judicial custody.  •  AAP National Convener Arvind Kejriwal claimed that around 25 lakh tonnes of sugarcane have been diverted for ethanol production, which he said is contributing to rising sugar prices. He announced a town hall on E20 tomorrow at 3 PM.  •  19-year-old ITI student Prashant Mukre drowned after slipping into Jaddi Lake at Valgalli in Kumta while visiting with friends. The case involves suspected transactions of Rs 30,000 crore across 20 States/UTs  •  High Court has sought clarification from the State government on the jurisdiction of Special Courts designated to try criminal land-grabbing cases. The court issued notices on a petition by Royson Rodrigues challenging the June 24, 2025 notification designating Additional Sessions Courts at Merces for North Goa and Margao for South Goa to hear such cases.  •  Goa Government revises its earlier notification and declares Wednesday, August 26, 2026 as a Special Holiday for Milad-un-Nabi/Id-e-Milad, instead of August 25.  •  Four Goa–Delhi flights delayed today (Aug 24) amid heavy rain and thunderstorms in Delhi; Dabolim Airport (GOI): 6E 2707, QP 1815 & Manohar International Airport (GOX): IX 1067, 6E 358  •  CM Sawant has suggested introducing an online OPD facility at Goa Medical College, allowing patients to share medical reports and consult doctors remotely; directed the Health Secretary and GMC Dean to take steps to initiate the facility and reduce the daily OPD burden.  •  Omkar, the elephant, has started damaging crops in orchards at Tambose, Pernem, leaving locals troubled.
