Rs 47 Crore eyewash at Guirim? | 010726

The Water Resources Department (WRD) has been actively working to reduce the hardships faced by farmers during the monsoon season in the Guirim area. During the rainy season, Guirim farmers often face the problem of excess water in their fields, which severely affects cultivation. To give farmers relief from this issue, the WRD installed bunds between the fields in a systematic manner to block the excessive water from flowing in. Farmers were hopeful that this would resolve their issues. However, just a few days after intensive rain, reality erased the farmers' smiles. First, it was the highway debris left unchecked. Soon after came delays in desilting, and later, choked pipelines that prevented the water from moving to the other side or draining back. The list goes on. Around Rs 40 crores was spent on this project by the department, but the outcome has shattered everyone's hopes. The constructed bunds were washed away within just a few days of heavy showers, leaving the farmers helpless. They now claim that the situation in their fields was better before the project than it is now. Many have raised eyebrows, wondering how Rs 40 crores could be spent on a project with such a disastrous outcome. The farmers are left helpless, trying to figure out their next move. #Guirim #Goa #WaterResources #WRD #Farmers #Agriculture #Monsoon #Waterlogging #Flooding #CropDamage #RuralGoa #Infrastructure #PublicFunds #Accountability #Development #GroundReality #GoaNews #FarmerIssues #Monsoon2026
