Two senior officials from Saudi Pro League giants Al Nassr were in Goa this week to inspect infrastructure and security arrangements ahead of their much-anticipated clash against FC Goa on 22nd October.
During their visit, the Al Nassr representatives evaluated the stadium, training facilities, hotel accommodations, and security measures in place. They also held key meetings with Goa Sports Minister Ramesh Tawadkar and Director General of Police Alok Kumar to discuss government support and the overall feasibility of hosting the high-profile match in the state.
According to FC Goa CEO Ravi Puskur, the state government was highly cooperative and assured full support, including robust security arrangements. "The government has been very supportive and has assured them of all necessary assistance and security. Both officials left satisfied, and we are hopeful of receiving a final confirmation from them regarding the squad's travel to Goa. Once we receive an update on Cristiano Ronaldo, we will let you know," said Puskur.
While Cristiano Ronaldo’s participation has not been officially confirmed, sources indicate that Al Nassr has applied for his visa, signalling intent to include the star forward in the travelling squad.
The team is expected to arrive in Goa on 20th October and will hold training sessions at the Fatorda Stadium, the venue for the upcoming clash.
The fixture has generated significant excitement among Indian football fans, especially with the possibility of witnessing Ronaldo in action on Indian soil for the first time.
