Bicholim Police have registered a case under Section 106(1) r/w 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, in connection with the electrocution death of a 20-year-old ITI student. Police have booked a lineman/wireman and the owner of the premises, alleging negligence during electrical installation work at a house in Maulinguem, Bicholim, where Akshat Rajesh Naik sustained a fatal electric shock. Notices under Section 35(3) BNSS have been issued to both accused. Further investigation is in progress
The Goa Directorate of Enforcement has filed a prosecution complaint before the Special PMLA Court in North Goa against Fr. Arlino De Mello, Fr. Victor Conceicao Rodrigues, former government land surveyor Prabhakar Rama Hawaldar, and a private real estate firm for allegedly laundering proceeds of crime worth ₹27.10 crore and fraudulently depriving a local family of its lawful tenancy rights over a prime parcel of land in Caranzalem.
