Several MLAs in the Goa Legislative Assembly demanded an increase in support prices for agricultural produce, stating that farmers in the state are struggling due to low returns. MLA Dr Chandrakant Shetye said paddy cultivation in Goa is steadily declining as the support price offered to farmers is too low to cover cultivation costs. He urged the government to revise the support price to encourage farmers to continue paddy farming. Meanwhile, MLA Premendra Shet raised concerns over the milk sector and called for a higher support price for milk to help dairy farmers sustain their livelihood.
