Wearing helmets is now compulsory for both riders and pillion riders, Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant informed the House, stating that the Transport Department has already issued a circular to this effect. The Chief Minister flagged the issue of rash and negligent driving, including by outstation vehicle drivers and riders. Citing the recent accident at Divja Circle, he said a speeding Tamil Nadu–registered Audi rammed into a woman two-wheeler rider and other vehicles, injuring two persons.
CM Sawant said strict enforcement measures are being put in place and informed the House that body cameras have already been introduced. Police Inspectors and Police Sub-Inspectors have been authorised to use body cam footage for issuing challans.
