The Goa government is working on a comprehensive Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy, which is expected to be introduced within the next 100 days, Information Technology Minister Rohan Khaunte said. The proposed policy will be guided by the principle of “AI with a Human Touch”, with the aim of ensuring responsible, ethical and inclusive adoption of artificial intelligence in governance and public services.

Khaunte said the policy will be prepared through consultations with government departments, industry experts, academic institutions and research organisations to ensure a collaborative approach to the use of AI in the State. “Our vision is to build an AI ecosystem in Goa that balances innovation with responsibility.

The policy will focus on ‘AI with a Human Touch’ so that technology strengthens governance while keeping people at the centre of development,” the minister said. He added that Goa is also preparing to contribute departmental datasets to AI Kosh, India’s national repository of non-personal data, which will support AI research and innovation across sectors such as tourism, agriculture, fisheries and healthcare. The State is simultaneously working on developing an AI Readiness Index to assess how prepared various government departments are to adopt artificial intelligence.

“The AI Readiness Index will help us evaluate departmental preparedness and accelerate the responsible deployment of AI solutions under the Goa AI Mission 2027,” Khaunte said.
