Demands for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar have intensified, triggering massive protests led by the CJP that brought traffic in Delhi to a standstill. Tensions escalated near Jantar Mantar as authorities moved in quickly, detaining key leaders right after their arrival, including AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, alongside nearly two thousand demonstrators.

In response to the widespread agitation, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched a sharp counterattack against the opposition. Criticizing the protests, BJP leaders stated that the opposition parties are simply unable to digest their electoral defeats, accusing them of creating chaos to distract from their political failures.
