The North Goa District Magistrate has denied permission to Amreen Shaikh and her group, identified as the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), to hold a public assembly at Azad Maidan, Panaji, on October 11, 2026.

The decision was taken based on a negative report submitted by the Superintendent of Police, North Goa.

Despite the denial of permission, CJP Goa has maintained that its protest will go ahead as scheduled. The group claimed it had followed the prescribed procedure while seeking permission but was repeatedly directed between various government offices.

According to CJP Goa, its team visited the District Collector’s Office on October 7 to inform the authorities about the planned peaceful assembly. The group alleged that it was subsequently sent between several offices, including traffic cells, the Corporation of the City of Panaji, the office of the Superintendent of Police, North Goa, Police Headquarters and Panaji Police Station, while attempting to complete the process.
