The proposed construction of an IIT educational facility within the Government Engineering College (GEC) campus dominated discussions at the Bandora Village Panchayat Gram Sabha held on Sunday, with a large number of residents voicing strong opposition to the project.

Villagers expressed concern that the proposed development would impact the spiritually significant Katamgal Dada site, which they regard as an important place of faith and cultural heritage. Residents urged the authorities to reconsider the location of the project and ensure that the sacred site remains protected.

The well-attended Gram Sabha saw widespread participation from villagers, who unanimously raised objections to the proposed IIT facility and called on the Panchayat to stand by the sentiments of the local community.

Responding to the concerns, the Sarpanch and Panch members assured the gathering that the Village Panchayat would respect the collective decision of the people. They stated that if the majority of villagers oppose the project, the Panchayat would also oppose the proposal and convey the community's stand to the concerned authorities.

The meeting concluded with a clear message from residents that any development project in the village should take into account local sentiments, cultural heritage, and community consent before moving forward.
