Margao Town Police arrest 28-year-old Sameer Khan, a native of Bhopal, for allegedly assaulting an on-duty police constable and injuring him with a stone while attempting to evade apprehension near KRC Station, Aquem. The injured constable was shifted to Hospital for treatment. Further investigation is underway. • The District Investigation Unit (DIU) of South Goa Police today arrested Hanzel Fernandes in Mangaluru for allegedly cheating several people on the pretext of providing jobs abroad. • Old Goa Police have registered an FIR under the POCSO Act and relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against Crime Branch PI Vikas Deykar and another accused, Ranjini Palyekar, in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a minor girl.According to the police, the alleged incidents took place at the Crime Branch premises in Ribandar on July 25 and October 27, 2026. The second accused allegedly facilitated the incidents. • Verna Police have cracked a minor girl harassment case registered under Cr. No. 125/2026 by tracing and apprehending the accused, Eklis Vas, with the help of CCTV footage and intensive investigation. The accused has been remanded to four days of police custody. • The Goa Directorate of Transport has issued a public advisory urging citizens to verify their e-challan status and make payments only through authorised government portals and applications. Citizens have been cautioned against fraudulent websites and unverified payment links. Senior BJP leader and Minister Digambar Kamat has expressed confidence that the party can win three to four constituencies in Salcete, including Margao, in the 2027 Goa Assembly elections.

Kamat said he has not yet been assigned any additional responsibility for Salcete by the party. However, if entrusted with the task, he is keen to formulate a strategy to help the BJP secure victories in three to four constituencies.

He said the party has set a target of winning 30 seats in the 2027 Assembly elections and will work towards achieving it.
While acknowledging that the final tally cannot be predicted with certainty, Kamat reiterated that the BJP would strive to reach the 30-seat target.
