The Town and Country Planning Department has reconstituted the North Goa Planning and Development Authority (NGPDA), bringing the Panaji, Taleigao, Bambolim and Mapusa planning areas under its jurisdiction.
CCP Mayor Rohit Monserrate has been appointed Chairman of the reconstituted NGPDA. The authority will also include MLAs from Panaji, Porvorim, Mapusa, Aldona, Saligao, Tivim and Siolim, along with councillors and other members. • A senior citizen has lodged a complaint alleging that Rahul Faldessai, son of Cumbarjua MLA Rajesh Faldessai, and three others obstructed his vehicle at Pontemol Junction near Rajyadhyax Grocery Shop, Curchorem; the complainant further alleges verbal abuse, threats and a vehicle chase that continued towards Shivaji Circle and Ambedkar Circle. He has sought FIR registration under Sections 126, 130, 351 and 352 of the BNS. • Casino Majestic Paradise director Shrinivas Nayak has filed an intervention application before the High Court in the original petition filed by Satish Shinde, one of the accused in the casino shootout case. Shinde has filed the petition challenging the police remand order, claiming that his arrest was illegal. The High Court will hear the matter on Wednesday. • CM Pramod Sawant called for coordinated efforts among government departments, local bodies and animal welfare groups to make Goa completely rabies-free by 2047. He said Congress stands firmly with RGP in its fight against any move to freeze its symbol. • Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte said action will be taken against illegal guest houses and against non-Goans who have purchased second homes in Goa and are renting them out. He said stakeholders must take advantage of the government’s ease-of-doing-business measures.
