Goa has recorded 1,357 AIDS-related deaths from 1993 to September 2025, according to official sex-wise data compiled over the three-decade period. As per the report, 20 AIDS deaths were registered in 2025 (up to September) — 15 males, 5 females and 1 transgender/TG individual. A breakdown of recent years shows fluctuating annual figures: 2024: 23 deaths 2023: 23 deaths 2022: 32 deaths 2021: 38 deaths Historical data highlights significant peaks in earlier years, including: 2011: 102 deaths 2010: 90 deaths 2009: 88 deaths 2008: 91 deaths Of the cumulative total (1993–2025), 896 deaths involved males and 460 females, while one case was recorded in the TS/TG category.
HIV infection is prevalent in all parts of Goa and majority of the cases are reported in the four coastal talukas viz. Mormugao (13.4%) and Salcete (12.6%), in South Goa District and Bardez (19.5%) and Tiswadi (11.7%) in North Goa District during 2023, Out of 260 cases reported in Goa during the year 2024, 23.5% belong to other States/foreigners/not specified.
