Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) president Girish Chodankar has alleged a ₹4,992 crore land scam over the proposed Dona Paula Convention Centre project, questioning the proposed ₹108 crore public-private partnership (PPP) deal for land he claims is worth around ₹5,100 crore.
Chodankar has raised concerns over the valuation of the land and the terms of the proposed agreement, particularly the proposed 60-year lease. He has questioned whether the deal adequately safeguards public assets and interests.
The Congress leader has also flagged concerns over the extent of land involved in the project, its potential environmental impact and the need for public consultation before proceeding with the proposal.
Chodankar’s allegations have brought the proposed convention centre project under scrutiny, with questions being raised over the financial terms of the PPP arrangement and the long-term use of valuable land at Dona Paula.
The Congress has called for greater transparency and accountability in the project, stressing the need for clarity on the land valuation, lease conditions and environmental implications.
The allegations are those made by the Congress leadership, and the ₹4,992 crore figure has not been independently established as a scam.
