Cancer Cases Rising Due to Lifestyle, Say Experts at Margao Seminar

Cancer cases are on the rise in Goa, driven largely by Western lifestyles and lack of physical activity, warned Dr. Suraj Pawar, Chairman and Managing Director, Chief Robotic Surgeon and Surgical Oncologist. Speaking at a cancer awareness seminar at Nanutel, he emphasized that some cancers are also hereditary and early detection is crucial.

The seminar, organised in collaboration with the Indian Medical Association (IMA), Margao, was attended by several doctors from across Goa. Seven medical experts participated in the session, sharing insights on prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of various cancers.

Dr. Pawar stressed the importance of regular exercise, a balanced diet, and genetic screening for families with a history of cancer, urging citizens to adopt healthier lifestyles to reduce risk.
