One person was killed and four others sustained serious injuries after the car they were travelling in met with an accident near the KTC Bus Stand in Ponda last night.

The deceased has been identified as 28-year-old Pradeep Gawada, a resident of the Electricity Department quarters. He reportedly died on the spot.

The four other occupants suffered serious injuries and were shifted to Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC) for further treatment.

In a separate accident on Baga Road, a 55-year-old man from Chandigarh died on the spot after an Ertiga taxi collided head-on with a Fascino scooter he was travelling on with his son.

The victim was reportedly travelling with his son, who sustained serious injuries in the collision. He was rushed to GMC for treatment.
