The Directorate of Education has informed that the academic year 2022-23 for students of Class I to X and XII will begin from June 6 and will conclude on April 29, next year. 

The summer vacation will begin from May 1 and go up to June 5.  

Director Education Bhushan Sawaikar has issued a circular detailing out the terms and vacation breaks during the academic year 2022-23.  “ The first term will be from June 6 to October 18 while the second term will be from November 7 to April 29, 2023. The Ganesh Chaturthi break is notified from August 30 to September 6 while the Diwali vacation is from October 19 to November 5.,” the circular said

“The Christmas holidays are between December 24 to January 2, 2022. The Academic term 2022-23 will end on April 29, next year with summer vacation beginning from May 1 and will conclude on June 5, 2023,” the circular added

The DoE has asked schools to ensure that the First Summative or Terminal examination will have to end by October 18 and the Second Summative exams to be held preferably before April 6, 2023. 

 

The schools have to ensure that the final examination results are not announced before April 28, next year. 

 

Further, the Heads of the Schools are directed to declare ten discretionary holidays, out of which three would be declared on September 2,3 and 5, adjoining the public holidays on account of Ganesh Chaturthi and remaining seven days are to be declared in consultation with Parents Teachers Association (PTAs). 

The total number of working days including examination days for the teachers will be not less than 220 days, while the instructional days will not be below 200 in the academic year. 

The department has also said that the school instructional hours should not be less than five hours 30 minutes per day, exclusive of school recess.
