ISL6 POST-MATCH PC: WE NEVER GAVE UP, SAYS FC GOA INTERIM COACH CLIFFORD MIRANDA

FC Goa clinched a 4-2 win over Chennaiyin FC at Fatorda stadium, but that was not enough to prevent a 6-5 defeat on aggregate score in the double-leg semi-finals of ISL6. As such, the regular-league toppers FC Goa's season came to an end on Saturday. “We were in the game till the end. We missed a lot of chances. We created a lot of chances in the first half itself. I think it was an extremely professional and fantastic performance by the players. We never gave up till the end. We fought till the end,” said interim coach Clifford Miranda. Meanwhile, Chennaiyin head coach Owen Coyle said: “Goa started brightly and we didn’t, truth be told. I have said before that Goa are a quality side and they don’t require to be handed any gifts. We didn’t pass the ball well enough and the early own goal gave them a tremendous lift. Mourtada Fall scored a wonderful goal to make it 2-0. One more goal and they would have had the advantage. But that’s the moment for a cool head. Then we started to get a grip on the game but could have done better. I am annoyed that we lost. After it was 2-2, we could have won. That being said, the objective was to win over the two legs and we did that. No one would argue we were the better team over the two legs. Getting past Goa, who have been the best team over the course of the season, represents an outstanding effort by everyone involved.”
