DR OSCAR REBELLO 24th Dec 2024
A cop, brazenly and knowing that cameras are watching him, escorts a notorious criminal out of jail…some Escort Service this!!
A leader of a prominent political party, and a lawyer to boot, releases a video by the afore-mentioned absconding criminal, instead of reporting his whereabouts to the cops— which any sensible citizen would do.
Then creates a political storm so that AAP could track the criminal, and our corrupt, compromised cops could not.
Furthermore, a MLA, on the eve of his grand wedding, is accused of Benami deals by the said criminal, but since he belongs to the BJP, the washing machine is brought into action as quickly as possible to wash off all stains of association.
And my friend Yatish Naik, much like Kehto Mukherjee, tries to make sense of it all.
The sordid drama unfolds before our eyes and we are gleefully forwarding WhatsApp messages and glued to social commentary as if Pushpa 3 has been released in the theatres.
We are a hollow people, with an even more hollow media, sunk into the depths of a hollow Government.
We are all so busy doing the corridinho or the dekni around this cast of bloody jokers, clinging on to the vain hope (we Goans are excellent in the exercise of vanity) that somehow justice will be served!!
There is one and only one point that confronts Goa , like a hydra-headed monster right now.
The sheer level of impunity and care-a-damn attitude of everyone in power—whether in cahoots or not—of grabbing land, robbing it in an operation so pitch perfect that even the British, Portuguese or Mughals would envy.
They had to wage wars , lose men and treasure, to steal our land.
These guys do it with a flourish of a pen, forging everything from title deeds to officers’ signatures.
Frankly, the Zionists should come over here and learn how to usurp land without any bloodshed.
This situation is so God-damned desperate now, and I am in such a foul mood, that I punched a Santa Claus when I was in Kolkata recently when he gifted me Goa for Sale
brochures in a mall there.
Frankly, there seem to be just two possible solutions that one can envisage.
The Judiciary takes the whole matter into its hands. Everything: records, investigations, perfidy …everything into its hands.
It monitors all investigations and everyone reports only to the judiciary.
It gets a time-bound end to investigations and eventual incarceration of these mother rapists (what else do you call someone who rapes Mother Goa so savagely…please find me another word).
As they say: Desperate Times call for Desperate Measures.
Even if ideologically I am on the other side of the aisle, one must implore the powers that be to get a senior, respected leader to lead the BJP in Goa, to at least somewhat stop the unrelenting blood-letting.
Cleaning the Augean stables is a tall task.
Yes, he may be from the RSS, but at least he should be old world, with honesty and sincerity as his calling card.
Not like these charlatans, taking us into oblivion as we whine with eyes wide shut.
Without a doubt, this has been the most savage and hideous government that Goa has seen in its history.
We simply must course correct.
This horror show must be snuffed out for a while at least.
And all ye BJP sympathizers and supporters, who share exactly this sentiment (and I know there are lakhs and lakhs of you) even if you have to mutter it silently,
Please say
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH
