The Mapusa JMFC Court has remanded a 28-year-old man to six days of police custody in connection with the alleged road rage stabbing of a Thivim resident in Nachinola.
According to the police, Suraj Vijay Kasbe (28), a resident of Povacao, Moira, Bardez, was arrested in connection with Mapusa Police Station Crime No. 99/2026 registered under Section 118(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
The case was registered on Friday night based on a complaint filed by Mayur Mahadev Agarwadekar (29), a resident of Dhanva, Thivim.
Police said that the incident occurred at around 5.30 pm on July 31 near the Ganpati Temple at Nachinola, Bardez, when the accused allegedly got into a verbal altercation with the complainant's brother, Manthan Agarwadekar (25), over a road rage incident.
The argument allegedly escalated, following which the accused is alleged to have attacked Manthan with a knife, inflicting injuries to his back.
The injured victim was immediately shifted to Goa Medical College (GMC), Bambolim, where he underwent treatment and was later discharged.
Following an investigation, Mapusa Police arrested Suraj Kasbe and produced him before the Mapusa Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Court, which remanded him to six days of police custody for further investigation.
