Crime Branch Police Inspector Vikas Deykar, who is accused of allegedly sexually assaulting a minor girl at the Crime Branch premises in Ribandar, has been suspended from service.

The suspension comes following the registration of an FIR by Old Goa Police under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act against Deykar and another accused, Ranjini Palyekar.

According to police, the alleged incidents took place on July 25 and October 27, 2026, at the Crime Branch office. Deykar is accused of sexually assaulting the minor on both occasions, while Palyekar allegedly facilitated the incidents.

Sources said Deykar has also submitted his reply to the notice issued to him in connection with the matter.

The case has triggered widespread outrage, particularly as the alleged incidents took place within the premises of the Crime Branch.

DGP Alok Kumar had earlier confirmed that legal and departmental action had been initiated against the inspector. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant had also stated that an inquiry would be conducted and that the inspector would be suspended.
