The Goa Crime Branch has launched an inquiry into the explosive allegations made by Pooja Naik in a viral social media video dated November 9, 2025, in which she claimed to have paid ₹17.68 crore to two government officials between 2019 and 2022 in exchange for securing jobs in various government departments.
According to a statement issued by Rahul Gupta, IPS, SP Crime, the inquiry is being conducted under Section 173(3) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). He confirmed that Pooja Naik has been summoned twice and her detailed statements recorded, including a recent interrogation session lasting nearly five hours.
The SP stated that while the allegations are being thoroughly examined, no corroborative evidence has been found so far to support Naik’s claims. “The enquiry is ongoing and each aspect of the allegations is being scrutinised carefully. The claims cannot be taken at face value as some of them are not consistent with available records,” Gupta said.
One of the claims under scrutiny concerns a flat in the PDA Colony, which Naik alleged was used for cash transactions. However, the flat owner has denied these claims and produced documents showing that only hotel management students have been tenants there since 2019.
Rahul Gupta also noted that Naik, who faces five criminal cases across Goa, was released on bail on November 21, 2024. He added that earlier, there had been no record or complaint implicating any government functionary in the alleged scam.
