These are the top stories for today's Konkani Prime Bulletin:- 1- Ponda Judicial Magistrate First Class Court has granted bail to Pooja Naik in a cheating case. Soon after her bail, Pooja reached Bicholim police station for inquiry into another cheating case. Pooja Naik was arrested for allegedly cheating multiple people worth lakhs of rupees on the pretext of providing them government jobs. 2- The Goa Human Rights Commission report has revealed that human rights have been violated in the modern Colvale Jail. A team of the GHRC recently visited the Colvale jail and found out that male as well as female toilets lack doors, jail premises are in dilapidated conditions, the sewerage system is in bad condition & emits foul odour and there is no female medical officer to examine women inmates GHRC has submitted a report and recommendations to the authorities including IG Prison and has asked to take necessary action within 60 days. 3- The Goa government has allocated redevelopment works, worth Rs 1,726 crore to NBCC (India) Limited, formerly known as National Buildings Construction Corporation. In a press statement issued on Monday, NBCC, a public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, informed about receiving the contract from Goa government, in the first phase of work allocation. 4- Goa Bachao Abhiyan has condemned the permits issued to Bhutaniu project and has demanded the government to revoke the permission given to them immediately. 5- Goa’s ambitious ‘Goem Vinamulya Vij Yevjan’ scheme -- an initiative aligned with the Prime Minister’s Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana -- has got huge response, with the government receiving over 3000 applications for rooftop solar installations, within just three months since its launch. The scheme encourages free rooftop solar installation up to 5kW for household users who consume 400 units or less per year. Apart from the Centre’s total outlay of Rs 75,000 crore, Goa government, with an initial investment of Rs 35 crore, will bear the entire cost of installation till 2026-27. Also, under the scheme, the beneficiaries will get 300 units of free electricity and would be charged thereafter. A senior official said that since August till date, a total 3095 applications have been received under the scheme, which was launched on July 27. 6- Goa Human Rights Commission (GHRC) has asked Panaji police to ensure that sound system installed for Narkasur night, in close proximity of Kamat Arcade at St. Inez, is played within time and sound limit as permitted by North Goa DM. Compliance report to be filed by Panaji police before GHRC on 12 November. 7- Food & Drugs Administration conducted a surprise check at Mapusa market yard and spotted a Belagavi vendor operating in Mapusa yard allegedly spraying ethephon on bananas.
