Konkani Prime News 041124 These are the top stories for today's Konkani Prime Bulletin:- 1- The Union Ministry for Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC)-appointed expert committee to examine the views and objections of the State governments on Western Ghats Eco-Sensitive Areas (ESA) is likely to visit Goa this month for ground verification on the State’s submission. The Goa government in its submission before the Union Ministry has proposed dropping 21 villages from the ESA list, based on the report submitted by the state-appointed seven-member committee headed by Dr Devendra Pandey, former director general of Forest Survey of India. 2- Bicholim police arrested one Priya Yadav in the alleged 'cash for job scam', from Kolhapur. Yadav has apparently cheated people to the tune of lakhs of rupees under pretext of providing government jobs. Yadav was absconding since last one week. She will be produced before lower court for remand. Yadav was found with 116 grams of gold (Rs 9L) and 3 cars which are all attached for investigation. The job scam came to light following series of complaints filed against Pooja Naik, who is currently under arrest. "From July 2023 to June 2024 Yadav and Rohan Venji allegedly duped victims of Rs 20.7 lakh on the pretext of giving railway jobs. They defrauded Bicholim job aspirants of over Rs 1 crore" said  North SP Akshat Kaushal Last week, a government servant, involved in the scam, committed suicide, following police interrogation. Ponda police also arrested Deepashree Sawant Gawas for allegedly cheating Marcel residents on pretext of providing government jobs. Deepanshre was absconding and evading authorities. 3- Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant has said that the Kala Academy auditorium will be used for IFFI masterclass sessions. CM Sawant announced that all works of IFFI will be completed by November 15th. “ Goa government will be spending Rs 26 crores to organise IFFI,” he added He further informed that a total of 3369 registrations have been done till now for IFFI. 4- A truck and bus driver lost their life, and multiple passengers were injured when a cargo truck collided head-on with a Karnataka-bound passenger bus on the national highway at Barkate-Mollem. The accident stranded several passengers, who were later rescued by the Ponda fire brigade team. The injured were swiftly taken to the local Primary Health Centre for treatment. 5- Sanvordem MLA Ganesh Gaonkar claimed that some people within the BJP played politics against him in the whole Dudhsagar tour operators issue. 6- A 17-member panel led by Devanand Naik was elected unopposed in the Gomantak Bhandari Samaj elections for the 2024-2029 term. All nominations submitted by the opposing panel, led by Upendra Gaonkar, were rejected. District registrar issues order keeping election process on hold till Nov 7, however, the committee says they are yet to receive order from District registra The election at the Bhandari Samaj office in Panaji witnessed a significant police presence. 7- Congress leader Dominic Noronha has filed a petition in the High Court, challenging Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar's decision to dismiss his plea for the disqualification of eight MLAs who had defected from Congress to BJP in September, 2022.
